About the Silicon Valley Investors Club (SVIC)

SVIC's Mission

To empower STEM employees to achieve their investment and career goals, and to build wealth to help their families, friends, and communities thrive.

Our History

In 2014, frustrated by the lack of investment information tailored to the unique needs of STEM employees, Jordan Thibodeau founded a real estate investment group for his co-workers at Google. He envisioned a place where STEM employees could learn from each other on how to directly invest in real estate. As the group quickly grew to 6,000+ members, he realized three things:

  1. The problems STEM employees faced in real estate by being discouraged from educating themselves on how to invest was not unique to real estate – it was also seen in asset classes such as stock, angel investing, private equity, crypto, and more.
  2. Investment advice is only as good as the provider’s commission structure. A realtor tells investors to buy real estate. A stock broker, stocks. A venture capitalist, startups. But no one focused on all asset classes holistically.
  3. As soon as Googlers left the company they complained that they could no longer take part in the investors community.
Svic Group

Jordan (and the community members) knew that not one given asset class was better than all others. And he knew that they needed a more encompassing group to allow all STEM workers to join, regardless of their employer. Connecting everyone in one community would allow discussions of various asset classes that take into account the unique circumstances their jobs put them in. Every SVIC member would be empowered to make their own investment decisions. Thus, SVIC was formed.

SVIC is a place where STEM workers can research and talk about all investment options without having to jump around from one website or medium to another. The struggle for finding the right information in one, easy-to-access location is gone. Instead, SVIC takes a holistic approach to learning about and implementing investment strategies by allowing and encouraging all topics of discussion for any investment type – real estate, angel investments, stocks and bonds, private equity, personal and professional development, and more.

In the past decade, the group has grown into a very large, successful and helpful, global community. And, SVIC is both humbled and proud that members of this community continue to prosper in their ventures, whatever they may be. They would be very excited to have you join the community and grow as well, if you haven’t already.

SVIC knows that those of you in the STEM field don’t always feel comfortable interacting with others, because let’s face it some people can be jerkfaces. But, this is a friendly environment where you’re able to hang back and learn from others – or take a step forward and teach another member something you’ve learned on your investment journey. Or ask any question from Noobie level to advanced.

Inside the Silicon Valley Investors Club, you’ll gain unbiased knowledge from people with similar interests as you, yet a few-to-many steps ahead of you in their investment journey. SVIC policy prevents members from being solicited by third parties, so you can be assured that the wonderful knowledge shared with you is aimed at helping you make intelligent investment and career choices. There are also specific articles and/or courses that are meant to help you improve daily interactions with those around you – professionally and personally.

SVIC is excited to see you in the club! Don’t miss an opportunity to interact with this community; your wealth depends on it. Join Today!

Doing Good for the Sake of Doing Good

The Silicon Valley Investors Club is not only dedicated to STEM professionals, but also to doing good around the world. Since 2018, the SVIC community has made generous donations to Well Constructed – a registered charity that enables community development by providing clean drinking water to as many people as possible. The donations have allowed for the construction and maintenance of 80 water wells in Ghana, Africa. With those 80 wells, nearly 100,000 people now have access to clean and clear drinking water.

Following in the philanthropic footsteps of his father, Jordan says, “I want to continue the family tradition of donating to charities, such as Well Constructed.” He says, “I’m not interested in buying material things. Real estate investing provides me with security and the ability to help others.”

And that’s just what Jordan intends to do through this community and charity – help others.

Nope. Location doesn’t matter – if you’re in the STEM field, come join us!

No! The membership is free, and if we ever decide to charge, you’ll be notified ahead of time.

The Silicon Valley Investors Club caters to those in the STEM field. It’s a safe place where they can exchange information, hold private conversations among those with similar interests, and learn from each other. There are also unique investment opportunities that may arise for STEM employees that only they qualify for. We do not allow people and organizations to pitch their products and offers to our members, which is why we’ve limited our membership to STEM only.
